چکیده

Microwave circuit electrodynamics of disordered superconductors is a very active research topic spawning wide range experiments and applications. For compact superconducting elements, the transition to an insulating state poses limit maximum attainable kinetic inductance. It is, therefore, vital study fundamental noise properties thin films close this transition, particularly in situations where good coherence temporal stability required. In paper, we present measurements on granular aluminum microwave resonators with high normal resistances, influence superconductor insulator phase visible. We trace fluctuations resonance frequency observe, addition 1/f pattern, distinct excess noise, reminiscent random telegraph signal. The shows strong dependency resistivity as well sample temperature but not applied power.

Chaos in Microwave resonators

Up to about 1990 the quantum mechanics of classically chaotic systems, shortly termed ‘quantum chaos’, was essentially a domain of theory [1]. Only two classes of experimental result had been available at that time. First, there were the spectra of compound nuclei giving rise to the development of random matrix theory in the sixties of the last century, and second the experiments with highly ex...

Random inelasticity and velocity fluctuations in a driven granular gas.

We analyze the deviations from Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics found in recent experiments studying velocity distributions in two-dimensional granular gases driven into a non-equilibrium stationary state by a strong vertical vibration. We show that in its simplest version, the "stochastic thermostat" model of heated inelastic hard spheres, contrary to what has been hitherto stated, is incompatible...

Fluctuations from edge defects in superconducting resonators

Superconducting resonators, used in astronomy and quantum computation, couple strongly to microscopic two-level defects. We monitor the microwave response of superconducting resonators and observe fluctuations in dissipation and resonance frequency. We present a unified model where the observed dissipative and dispersive effects can be explained as originating from a bath of fluctuating two-lev...

Microwave Breakdown in Resonators and Filters

Several aspects of microwave breakdown in resonators are discussed in this paper. Approximate analytical criteria are formulated for the critical microwave breakdown field in some illustrative model geometries, which clearly brings out the main physical properties of microwave-induced breakdown in the presence of inhomogeneous electric fields. The analytical results are verified by comparisons ...

Influence of mobility fluctuations on random telegraph signal amplitude in n-channel metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistors

The amplitude of random telegraph signals ~RTS! in an n-channel metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor has been investigated. Current fluctuations originating when a single-channel electron is trapped or detrapped in the silicon dioxide have been evaluated. A simulation has been performed where the inversion-layer quantization, the dependence of the electron mobility on the transvers...
